Twitch is finally delivering on a feature fans have been requesting for years: the ability to rewind live streams directly on a streamer’s channel page.
Until now, viewers who wanted to rewatch part of a live broadcast had to dig into the Videos section of a streamer’s profile. With this new update, scrubbing back during a live stream will be much more seamless.
Who Gets It First?
The rewind feature is launching first on web browsers, and it will initially only be available for Twitch Turbo subscribers or for viewers who subscribe to individual channels. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy explained during a livestream that the limited rollout is meant to ensure the feature can’t be abused as a way to bypass ads.
Coming Soon for Everyone
While the feature is starting with a smaller group, Twitch has confirmed plans to expand rewind access to all users in the future. The company is also working on adding support for mobile devices, which will make the experience even more accessible.
